Folks,

Please stop with the "nobody cares" nonsense.

If you don't care, then don't post.

If nobody posts, then the person who posted initially will figure out nobody cares. I'm not sure about others, but I am not a fan of the dismissive commentary. I think this falls into the category of "If you don't have something nice to say ...."

From a few posts I have seen, none of which were mine, some people do care about scholarship discussion.

Anonymous said...

Scholarship discussion is fine until it dives into the
"You're crazy for spending all this money on soccer since there are no real scholarships" talk.

The "her scholrshp can be pulled at any time" and "many girls give up the sport after 2 collegiate seasons.."

How is this helpful?

We all know academics factors into the equation as much as positive play...

So how is "spend your time having her improve her GRADES" a necessary comment?

Please - speak here like your audience HAS a brain.

I believe it is about realizations and expectations. Some are pushing for a carrot that is not there.

The scarecrow above just neeeds to use his.

Anonymous said...

Scarecrows and carrots - wtf.

Let me remind you that there are varying levels of understanding the landscape of the readers/posters here. Some have already had several kids go through this stage while others are dealing with their first.

What may be obvious as fact, or established opinions may be concepts that are new to others. They have not yet had the chance to come to their own realizations and expectations yet.

Perhaps have a little patience with others, be helpful where you can, and if you can do neither, than save your keystrokes.

Jefferson Cup-Spartans move up and Surge moves down, Manhattan Soccer Tournament was a dose of reality.

Anonymous said...

Surge should keep dropping after Jefferson. Not a good team.

Anonymous said...

No , I have to agree .. Not a good mix it seems for talent. That what happens when you play better competition as a daily dose. Reality sets in for those people , TR Fusion and dont know much of the other girls from the other team , but clearly none were playing good soccer as a whole .Window is closing .

Anonymous said...

Surge took anyone. They took players that their own teams didnt even want. They arent all bad and even those that are out of shape have good days.

Anonymous said...

LOL, jeff cup a good switch for surge, not so good for spartans. spartans moved up only because surge lost points, not because of their performance. sadly, they will struggle at jeff cup.

the only team you folks have not trashed is O'Reilly.

Anonymous said...

Oh sure they have.. lol: PDA takes already developed players from all the top teams, they monopolize the ECNL in New Jersey, and ..... um... I know there was something else, oh yeah, they purposely avoid certain tournament so they don't have to play certain teams. I don't know about the last one, but I do believe the first two.

Anonymous said...

What do you mean SUrge took anyone? Aren't they a mix of TR and BW? Weren't people on here complaining that their daughter was selected for the B team only. I thought they were sending people away, not taking anyone.

Anonymous said...

Just curious to know where your daughter plays? Let me guess NJSA? Oh yea 3 or 4 of there gilrs are going to Surge aren't they> Wait doesn't the best NJSA player currently play with the Surge? Hmmm.

Anonymous said...

NJSA has a best player?

Anonymous said...

8:37 - That is just plain obnoxious. I am NOT an NJSA parent or fan.

Anonymous said...

If Surge is so bad, how were they accepted into the Premier League?

Anonymous said...

Name dummy

Anonymous said...

Sure was accepted into Premier League of what?

Anonymous said...

Surge

Anonymous said...

Region 1 Premier League. They had to apply and be accepted. Only the top teams in the region. Now who's the dummy?

Anonymous said...

They were accepted because on paper they looked like an up and coming team. Since they have been put against better teams you see the recent results. They were wise to push for premier league knowing that their record prior against weaker teams would help them get accepted, but it will be a long season for them at this level. I think they call it in the music world one hit wonders.

Anonymous said...

I assume they need more time to keep working. I have a friend who kid plays on that team , I can tell he is a little disappointed of where they are as a team .But I guess you gotta start somewhere. Being from TR I saw the Fusion play the last couple of years and we always thought they were a good team or had success in tournaments. But any sport you change levels you are have set backs . keep working

Anonymous said...

@ 10:43 I agree with poster 11:07. Surge was accepted to the Premier League because of their GS ranking. However, let's remember that the Surge inherited those points from the TR Fusion. The Surge has only earned 622 points of their own since their inception.
Also, last year, TR won the Manhattan Tournament; this year Surge didn't win a game there. And the teams were just as competitive this year as last.
Perhaps now that the Surge has dropped down a division in the Jeff Cup (for whatever reason) they will have better luck. But then again, that was not what this team was put together for. Outside of making money, it was to play the top teams in the top divisions in the top tournaments. It may eventually happen, but it will take time & many players changes.

Anonymous said...

I thought MF developed players?

Anonymous said...

11:59 Now that they brought Holmdel and Summit into the mix, what kind of development will that be? Just pick the best of what's there and move on like always most likely.

Anonymous said...

They develop teams not players.
Face it, they take whomever they can to get a team started, and then they replace those players with better ones as they come along.

Anonymous said...

I was being facetious when i said MF developed players. We all know they take anyone to make a team and rely on the club name to bring in new players for the following year.

Both MF teams at U14 are average despite breaking up Somerset Hills and Toms River to form them. Strange how an organisation that prides itself on developing players/teams can take 2 groups of good players and turn them into mediocre teams. I doubt it's the players, it's more than likely the coaches in charge. Shame. But people will keep drinking the kool aid i suppose.

Anonymous said...

Surge will spiral out of control. Once they started losing like last last tournament and future Spring league games in Premier. Parents jump ship quickly. By late April, former Surge players trying out.

premier League is tops and that is mainly why Surge will fall. Where will Surge go after bottom of Premier League this season. ?

Anonymous said...

I don't necessarily think it's the coaches, although they should have some control. I think a lot is the parents.
Some parents on BOTH teams exert way too much influence on playing time whether or not the players earned it or deserve it. This most certainly impacts the overall effect of the team performance.

Anonymous said...

2:06, it was difficult to determine if you were being serious or not, you did not leave a hint. Lol! However, I agree with everything you said.

3:11, Why do you think that the parents have more control than the coaches? What kind of leverage do these parents have over the coaches, that they would be influenced by them?

Anonymous said...

The Storm coach is great. Efficient, organized, fair and knowledgeable. Don't know about the other team.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps 3:11 is alluding to the head of the girl's side, not necessarily the coaches. Too many friendships unfairly influences some key decisions.

Anonymous said...

On the topic of Jefferson Cup, both Crush and BEC in top bracket. Any predictions on how these NJ teams will do?

Anonymous said...

Re: Surge

Killer group in Mass Cup,

1-0 loss to Charge in States.......

1-1-1 at Maps

2 1-0 losses this past weekend

- Pointless weekends/events arent always catastrophes.

Anonymous said...

Can someone provide information on the final tryouts for ODP? Was anything posted anywhere? Thank you.

Anonymous said...

Sometimes I feel like people on this site contradict themselves. Maybe MF IS developing players and not teams. Isn't that what you always preach... develop players, don't worry about points, practice is more important than games.... etc. etc. Then the minute a team loses you jump all over it. It can't be both ways.

Anonymous said...

It seems a lot of the teams only have the points they do because of the EDP league. Those points seem inflated. What's the deal with them? Why does that league accrue points and Jags, NPL, ASL don't??

Anonymous said...

let's remember that Surge is not Fusion. there were 5 or 6 players who contributed to Fusion's success that were not invited to join Surge. the same can probably be said for somerset hills?

wouldn't it make more sense to try to keep these teams intact as much as possible? add some strong players and make small changes? MF wants these teams because of their success (and points)/

Anonymous said...

But the poster above said that Surge took anyone, now you are saying that they turned people away. You people have such varying stories. Who knows what the truth is! I'm sure Summit is contributing many points.

One of the above posters said that The Storm coach is great. What team is that?

Anonymous said...

agree 8:26 but anyone that looks at more than just the points and ranking will see that.

agree 8:16. parents need to be patient. stick with it and the results will come. with the addition of Milan in the fall, MF will have 3 strong teams in this age. many talented and athletic players that only want to play better.

Anonymous said...

@ 8:46 fact: surge turned players away. surge was a 2 team group deal. 8 from TR, 6 from beachwood. then 4 came from NJSA.

Anonymous said...

who is storm??? someone lost? belong on a different age?

Anonymous said...

I agree with 8:49. New teams, new times. They need to gel with one another. Once that happens the wins will come.

Anonymous said...

8:56 mentions NJSA. Will they still be a team next year? What's the deal with that club?

Anonymous said...

I don't really know about NJSA. They don't do any tournaments anymore. I know they are doing well in the NPL but I believe that is only because they have girls rostered from other teams that are non NPL.

Anonymous said...

Playing non NPL players on an NPL team is allowed?

Anonymous said...

why not? NPL is US club. card us club for NPL on one team and then USYS on another team for say JAGS.

it was before NPL but my daughter was carded to two teams.

Anonymous said...

fact - TR Fusion had girls leaving the club ,with nothing returning in new players for tryouts. They went crawling to MF. What they found out was the level play in stored!!!! Parents will either in brace the team or not!!! Good luck

Anonymous said...

Teams need to stay intact for any cohesion to occur. This is assuming you have skilled players or players that can, and are being developed.

The more turnover, the less cohesion and this, I think, makes teams struggle.

They need to feel comfortable with one another on many levels.

Anonymous said...

@9:28 Absolutely NOT true, NJSA has not used one player for NPL that is not US Club carded to their club, NJSA, in fact carded to either the U14's or the U13's. People, please realize that if one has to say "I believe" prior to the crap that they spew then mostly likely what they are spewing is not true. Oh how I hate this train wreck of a forum. Peace out!

Anonymous said...

Cards? someone say CARDS?

Player cards or coaches cards. Some have them and some do not. Some have two cards or double carding in two leagues and some play or coach even without any card at all.

What's in your coaches wallet?

Anonymous said...

How does NO CARD work when the refs are checking you in before a game? Do they overlook this? How can that happen?

Anonymous said...

we had a coach use another players card. she had quit soccer midyear.

Anonymous said...

10:05 You are the one spewing. The poster admitted they didn't know much about NJSA and their post was written as more of a question. Thank you for clarifying. Can you tell us why they aren't playing in tournaments? Are they focusing on training more?? Is there a philosophy there that you would care to share?

Anonymous said...

Is this whole no card/borrowing card/double card thing a bait and switch? Is this allowed? It doesn't sound on the up and up.

Anonymous said...

Correction: Surge is Fusion. They had a roster of 13-14 in TR. The coach drank the MF coolaid and brought 8-9 to there and stepped aside. The only girls who didn't go were the ones they didn't want. Had a great spring 2012 and have had to play in high brackets ever since. Hard to do since MF coach attracted no one to join the Fusion girls. Fact. Paying all that money for what???

Anonymous said...

What are the 4 soccer academies in NJ? PDA, MatchFit and ?????

Anonymous said...

6:56 it's sad when people think they know about something and they are clueless.

Anonymous said...

7:06 The Red Bulls

Anonymous said...

Some teams have non team players use another player's team card. Team p;layer is out, injured, away,or quit, and yes sometimes even allow non player to use her card(which mgr keeps)instead of playing.
Ref do not really check that effectively and in most instances just glance or quick ok the cards
as the girls line-up for card check.
Ref are more interested in safety of cleats and shin guards.
So as long as the number on jersey matches number on card it almost always passes.

Anonymous said...

My understanding (please correct me if wrong) about academies:

US Soccer has academy guidelines/rules/program for what they call academies. They apply ONLY TO BOYS. I do not think US Soccer acknowledges or has any regulations or membership for anything on the girls side.

Therefore, when speaking about academies, when a PDA or NJSA or MF can call themselves an academy, I don't believe this carries any special signficance, on the girls side. They may position themselves as an academy. They may brand themselves as an academy. The may join all the prestigious ECNLs and regional competitions they want to, but that does not make them an academy. They may give equal or even better training that other clubs who are town or do not call themselves academy. They may even give better training to the girls than the boys. But none of this makes them an academy in the precise sense of the word from a US Soccer perspective. I do not believe the words soccer academy hold any other additional significance outside of this, other than how they want to be and are perceived by us.

So the way I see this, girls who play at one of these academies are only playing at a club that has boys teams which are part of the academy program.

BTW - there is a rule that for boys that are part of these academies, they cannot play high school ball and they cannot play for another non-academy team. These rules do not exist for girls.

Again, I do not speak with full authority here ... this is what I've learned and surmised. Please fill in the blanks or correct as warranted.

Anonymous said...

can anyone tell me about this real shore lakewood fc. I saw them posting tryouts on another form and was wondering if anyone knew if it was worth looking into.

Anonymous said...

poster 656pm you pretty much answered the question everyone has been asking, Surge if Fusion ,difference is playing at a higher level, which explains why the Fusion got soccer pts rankings were so high. Played at a lower level just for the points ahh.. I also would have to disagree with you on the MF Coach bringing no one. Beachwood Forward , and the one back are better than the players from the Fusion other than Fusion forward(speed) . I do believe he brought some NJSA players who are currently skilled players and better than the Fusion ones the coach brought over ... Or maybe not , maybe the good ones chose to break away and that is what the Surge got stuck with as a package uuummmm.

Anonymous said...

2:30, yes the coach did bring some NJSA players to the Surge--one of them is his niece.

Anonymous said...

2:30 Seriously, we are talking about 13/14 year old girls here. To use the phrase "stuck with" ??? Come one. Have a little respect for them as people.

Anonymous said...

surge is not fusion. only 8 of the 14 fusion players were chosen to go to surge. perhaps those remaining 6 made more of a contribution than they were given credit for

Anonymous said...

PSC Cobras to win Jefferson Cup top flight. Best team in Region 1 right now. Very patient team with no superstars, just great foot work.

Anonymous said...

HAHAHA! Great footwork which they use to play dirty soccer. If you can't beat 'em, then beat 'em up!

Anonymous said...

Great foot work? Nice try Mom... Love your sense of humor. Hope your goalie or striker doesn't go down cause that's your whole game. Maybe your fat, lazy coach and his baseball playing sidekick will have some tricks this season to get the rest of the team involved. But, don't worry. All the girls can play for their coach's COMMUNITY COLLEGE TEAM...way to aim high...lol

Anonymous said...

Ok, let me type slower. Fusion has 8 girls girls from FUSION. They choose not to take or the remaining 6 walked away. Personally I think it was 4 or they would have not left TR with 14 strong. Adding a Beachwood player or two and a couple of NJSA players has filled their roster. That makes for a good team, just not playing at the top 2 flights of every major tourney. Hence the struggle. They didnt choose to play at 2nd or 3rd flights last year spring, that's just were their ranking placed them. Teams don't choose!!! They won a few tourneys and the NJ Cup. Great accomplishment...yes! Then they left and got placed in all top flights. That gets us to today. That's the truth. Parents are struggling with mediocre results, while writing the check. That's it. Everyone else just wants to speculate...now you don't have to.

Anonymous said...

lol,

"Fusion has 8 girls girls from FUSION."

you might have typed too slow.

yeah baby!

Anonymous said...

Good point. Surge has 8....ahh you know what I meant!!!

Anonymous said...

Sounds like a few PSC Cobra haters out there. Tough , physical, technical soccer will get you hate mail every time.
Feed off the hate, remember those Ravens?

Anonymous said...

9:07 -- can you say "RED CARD" ?

Anonymous said...

What's the Qualifier weekend at Jeff. Cup all about?

Anonymous said...

Hey Cobras cheerleader...if you can't beat the Mt. Laurel United Flash today and barely beat a team ranked in the 200's then you are in big trouble next weekend against some real teams.

Anonymous said...

Are Jags and EDP schedules posted anywhere? Neither of their sites have them.

Anonymous said...

i saw some of the cobras/MLU game today. after reading the comments here i expected to see a better team. yep, in trouble at jeff cup. sorry cobras mom

Anonymous said...

Cobras lost 1-0 to STA in the final...

Anonymous said...

Really?! They beat STA 5-0 in the same tournament last year. Of course, we're just haters and they are by far the best team in the region...good luck next week.

Anonymous said...

Time change apparently

Anonymous said...

maybe those 8 girls from the fusion were not the right combo needed to mix with the following others . To say the Coach did not bring anything , why did you go then with your 8 girls and coach ?

Anonymous said...

Wouldn't want to play an angry Cobra team right now.

Anonymous said...

sorry that was to poster 656 , just catching up on some reading .

Anonymous said...

Looks like Bethesda has split some teams and is double carding 6 players. VCCL league and ECNL league
The number #1 or A team is playing VCCL. Big blow for ecnl.
Both teams down at Jefferson this weekend. The coach of the VCCL team is an assistant coach at Maryland.
Some connection?

Anonymous said...

Bethesda has only one team at Jeff Cup...

Anonymous said...

NPL Champions League Teams so far.

How does NYCSL and EDP determine it's winners? Combine records from Fall and Spring?

U-14 GIRLS:

Tualatin Hills United SC Onyx (Oregon Premier League)

Northwest United FC Powell (Washington State Premier League)

Anonymous said...

Where is the Cobras Mom? What happened today at Jefferson Cup? Didn't your 'technical and skilled' players show? One year ago, your goalie's father hand picked your coaches and couldn't wait to replace some players that had been with the team for 4 years. It's time to face facts .....everyone replaced has been a downgrade, including the coaches. You know it must be bad when your national team goalie got scored on 4 times. She must have been pummeled with shots. Couldn't have happened to a nicer group of jerk parents. Can't wait to see them turn on each other, probably after this weekend.

Anonymous said...

Surge lost 2

Anonymous said...

Jersey United lost both also. Not a good showing

Anonymous said...

OMG, can you believe surge lost both games by 1 and JU lost by 1 and 2? BEC tied and lost to the #1 team in the region in the top flight by 4 goals.

horrible, just horrible.

seriously? so 2:08 and 5:23, where are your daughters playing this weekend? not a Jeff Cup it seems.

good luck to all the jersey girls tomorrow!!

Anonymous said...

Yeah 1116pm the Jeff Cup is the be all and end all of girls soccer. If someone isn't there then it must be because their daughter isn't good enough!

Anonymous said...

seems it is if someone thinks the jersey showing is so poor and needs to comment on it.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, losing is still losing, whether by 1 goal or by many. That's what the standings will show (and the inevitable points). I get that it was probably a well played game, but the facts are the facts.

Anonymous said...

11:16 Don't kid yourself. The Surge wouldn't even be in the Jeff Cup if they began their team without TR Fusion's GS points or the MatchFit name. And they they lost while playing in the 3rd division of Jeff Cup. Yeah, we know, you daughter is better than every other player not at Jeff Cup.

Anonymous said...

11:16 is extremely defensive over a simply stated fact. "Surge lost 2"

Anonymous said...

1116 thanks for wishing them luck. It obviously worked ;-) ju. Mf. Bec. Crush all lost

Anonymous said...

Most of you have pretty miserable attitudes. I hope you don't show that side of yourselves to your daughters?

Anonymous said...

NJ has poor showing at Jeff Cup.

Expensive trip. Teams return with NO points.

Anonymous said...

Those Cobras picked some good points and played 2 games Sunday.

Semi-finalist at Jeff- not bad.

Anonymous said...

PDA was semi finalist too.

Anonymous said...

Cobras at half the cost of pda. Coaches with Cobras pay for their own travel too, although being only 21/2 hours away we stayed only Sat night.

Baltimore is a blue collar town

Anonymous said...

The Cobra Kai dojo was well-reprented in Richmond.

Anonymous said...

Cobra parents a bit loud, but only positive remarks. Emotional and Dramatic? Yes

Anonymous said...

Please - PDA was in the 4th bracket and scored 1 goal. Not a very good showing.

Anonymous said...

PDA FINISHED IN LAST PLACE AT BOTTOM BRACKET/FLIGHT

Anonymous said...

There isn't 1 team at Jeff Cup that could sniff the Orielys = REAL PDA team.

Lets be honest.

They lose less then 1 game a year at their own age and can beat 95% of the teams a year older.

Anonymous said...

My little honest friend above conviently forgot about YMS.

YMS is #1 by over 4000 points and once updated will be #1 by almost
8000 points.

There is Yardley then the rest OF THE COUNTRY

just saying

Anonymous said...

They play every tournament so they have the most points. BTW they didn't bring the title home this weekend.

Mark my words that YMS will explode somtime either start of u15 or durning the season and the kids will flock to the ECNL teams penn fusion/delco/bucks

Anonymous said...

Re: "YMS players FLOCK to penn fusion/delco/bucks"

No reason to FLOCK to a sub-par ECNL team when those girls have the visibility on their existing team. ECNL isn't the be-all end-all and aside from a few ECNL teams in this region, the competition at this age group is only fair. ECNL chest pounding, yuck.

Anonymous said...

PDA did not finish last in lowest bracket. They were semi-finalist in a middle(ish) bracket. But even the lowest bracket at Jefferson is nothing to laugh at.

I definitely think that YMS can "sniff the ORiellys", they have beaten them before. BUT YMS is not consistent. They will tie or beat a really good team, and then lose to an average team.

I do agree that YMS tournament loads for points.

I do agree that ECNL is not as important as it was thought out to be. Not so great.

Anonymous said...

Sorry where is the yms u15 team? Blew up. Kids went everywhere. Trickle effect happens and fast. Yms never keeps good girls team together. In due time

Anonymous said...

ECNL is transitioning to a team-based, rather than a club-based model. Top teams in each age group will participate in ECNL events, irrespective of affiliation. There will be no need for top players to leave their current teams to join an ECNL team. All that the exclusionary nature of ECNL produced was blow-out, lopsided events with lots of subpar competition. It's not possible for every club to have exceptional teams in every age group.

Anonymous said...

People said the same thing about the MSC Coyotes Green. Non-ecnl, reg club team in the back yard of Power House Bethesda.

Coyotes National Champions(of the whole USA) at u-14 in 2012. And currently recently won National League and on top in Region 1 Premier League.

Sure teams implode, but some get better and better. This team and club is a real life model of how to build a Champion cost effectively. Under $2000 a year, with absolutely NO extras.
And the girls are encouraged to play H.S. and ODP if they want.

College coaches come to them recruiting. Not a super star on the team either.Just big, fast, physical, and smart. The Big Green Machine with a goalie that will occasionally take off and try to score. Fun soccer.

Coach rarely says a word, but instructs and teaches during practices 4 days a week on turf.

Practice like Champions! The games are easy.

Anonymous said...

Lol you speak non sense. Ecnl isn't going team based .... Keep dreaming

Anonymous said...

Bethasda team just picked up 6 new players from one of the top teams at u15. The power of the Ecnl n club was the reason. They will continue n draw more. They aren't the best but s help on an improvement in 6months. Product of being in the Ecnl.

Anonymous said...

Only top team is Coyotes in Maryland and Region 1 and Nationally.

Bethesda cost $800 a quarter so do the math. Costs way too much per WIN when they win. Oh yeah, ecnl does not believe in playing many games.

New girls came from WAGS. Not a top team. Roster size is 22 couldn't play much even if they did play lots of games. ECNL REVENUE GENERATING.

Anonymous said...

I saw the Coyotes play last Fall at Discovery. They are good . Do not think they are ecnl. Just another club team, but could be wrong.

Anonymous said...

ecnl is going through some growing pains. Actually, they will down size
before they try to expand again.

Too teams and clubs in ecnl that are way below the elite in ecnl. Some very good teams and some very bad teams , but most just a tad above avg. So avg. is the new elite?
I have seen what National League and Region 1 Premier can do for my daughter with respect to college soccer and Scholarships. PSU baby!

Anonymous said...

the only way that ecnl can truly offer elite competition at every age is to change the eCnl to eTnl. looking at the individual TEAMs is the key. pda is one of the few clubs that is strong at every age. my little sister should have to earn her way just like i did, not tag along just because she has the same last name.

Anonymous said...

Maybe ecnl should get rid of the bad teams and/or clubs?

The thought was that good players would flock to ecnl. Did not happen, so they will regroup.

But if they make it less expensive, it might have a shot.

So which team is it going to be at U15, Thunder or Surge?

Anonymous said...

Thurge.

Anonymous said...

They did sign like 20 girls to D1 colleges this year.

Anonymous said...

908am I would say neither team , they should start a new team of players trying out for it , and so on . That would be the right way to do it . Thunder has some good girls and as does Surge. But also Im sure it will attract other players as well to the program now. Should be very interesting , those kids on the bubble better look out now in MF land.

Anonymous said...

MF will also have milan in the fall. 3 teams in this age. agree, ecnl team will be the best from the 3

Anonymous said...

What about the njsa girls who play for surge now? Where do they go? How do they do it?

Anonymous said...

The question is where will this team practice and play out of? Holmdel, Berkely or Raritan?.

Anonymous said...

What about Summit & Montclair, will those players be included with the others for the MF ECNL team?

Anonymous said...

"What about the njsa girls who play for surge now? Where do they go? How do they do it?"

What does this mean? Are there girls who play for NJSA and Surge? Do they play for NJSA in the NPL only?

Anonymous said...

everyone is in invited to a tryout , regardless of who they are with now. Its just like all other tryouts (open). So new players might be on the team as well as the other MF teams . The best will play ECNL AND SO ON. Its not for everyone also , alot of traveling comes with it and $$ . good luck

Anyone following the Baltimore Mania tournament. I'm confused about how they came about their finalists. Anyone care to explain??

Anonymous said...

Yesterday Marlboro played Surge in a JAGS game and there were NJSA girls playing Matchfit.

Anonymous said...

Who won? Jags website still isn't updated.

I always thought Surge girls were playing NPL with NJSA, I guess it's the other way around. Or maybe it's both ways.

Anonymous said...

Marlboro was up 2-0 at half and then I left. Marlboro was totally out playing them. It looked like Marlboro only had 1 sub????

Nike Rush and Copa both had 7 points. Same goal differential +3, most shutouts determined finalist.

Nike Rush (1)

Baltimore Mania

Bracket 1 (don't hold me to this)

Three team tie broken by goal differential. MJX(+2), MLU(+3)and Alleycats(+3)

After three team tie breaker is broken, two remaining teams start from top of tie breaking procedure.(head to head competition).

(Alleycats 1 - MLU 0)

Alleycats win?

Anonymous said...

LOL, no copa. 3-0

Anonymous said...

Copa over Alleycats in the finals.

Anonymous said...

Wow!! Nike Rush is looking great and get a pk. Fc Copa is a totally difference this year. It was a great game. Nike will be the team to watch this year.

Anonymous said...

I think RUSH is the new ecnl. It seems every state has a RUSH club now.
Sponsored by Nike? Nice deal

Anonymous said...

RUSH has teams/clubs in 26 states and expanding. Colorado RUSH and Texas RUSH have been power houses for years.

Anonymous said...

njx milan will suffer. too many chefs cooking in that kitchen and way too many people have agendas. with matchfit getting involved...not long before they implode.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure their top players will go to the ECNL team.

Anonymous said...

Why is Copa playing in the low bracket at PDA after beating Alley cats, Vincent United, Jersey United Spartans in EDP and tied with Rush in Baltimore Maniac? Hiding?

.

Anonymous said...

They don't choose. It's all based on points.

Anonymous said...

Copa very talented and will gain players this summer with the good results from this Spring.
Teams on the raise: Copa
Teams on the fall: ?

This is the year/season. If your not on the team you want be, make the move now. Too late in Fall.

Anonymous said...

Don't you think everyone will be trying out for MF to try and make the ECNL team? Although I'm quite sure some of those spots are already filled . . . .

Anonymous said...

10:13: How many chefs are cooking at NJX milan? Are the agendas the club's or the parents or both?

Anonymous said...

Spring season has just started. Too early to tell who will be on top Copa parent.

Anonymous said...

there are too many parents who manipulate the manager at njx. i see the best players leaving, but not to matchfit.

Anonymous said...

Going to STA. wow !

Anonymous said...

Look like Copa adding 1 regional one player and 4 ODP players this season. they look impressive against Rush Nike. But Rush still the team to beat.

Anonymous said...

Not true. Copa just working hard and training and playing games all the time. Called Development at a fair price. Try it.

Anonymous said...

Are OPD player play for free @ Copa? We will come.

Anonymous said...

5 ODP on the same team? That is cheating?

Anonymous said...

Double carding this weekend at pda tourney? shame on pda. Your own tournament and having guest players from in and out of your club. Sure the rules allow up to 5 "guess" (instead of guest) players, but really?

Just the fox guarding the chickens

Anonymous said...

3 of the new Copa players came from the Branchburg Fusion, one of which trains with ODP not so impressed. They jumped up so high in GotSoccer because they won Baltimore Mania which not many of the top teams participated in.

Anonymous said...

PDA tourney and they can do anything they want just to keep all the team below them.

Anonymous said...

Don't you think everyone will be trying out for MF to try and make the ECNL team? Although I'm quite sure some of those spots are already filled . . . . I doubt it , they want to draw the best players to play together on the ECNL Level . They will alot players trying out for that team ,but that does not mean in the future from the teams below, that players will not be asked to come play either . They will have some sad faces, plus some people might look else where .

Anonymous said...

I'm a parent of the team playing against both Rush and Copa. Rush are physical big/strong and fast got couple yellow card. Copa are small team with skill in possession was able to overcome Rush. Win 3-0 over Alleycats is was easy? My daughter in the same ODP team with Copa players. she will tryout with them soon. See you @ OPD in April.

Anonymous said...

How can players move from Branchburg to Copa in the middle of the year? Arent there rules against that?

Anonymous said...

Rules? Go ask pda about rules.

Anonymous said...

Best time to move is in middle of year. Filling a need at a position with another team and getting immediate playing time. No try out, just we need you or if I move she will start.
Your missing the boat.

Anonymous said...

To 11:30am:
Rush is not the top teams? Have you ever see them play? One of my favor team this season.

Anonymous said...

RUSH is good. Maybe not top 3 yet, but must bring it to win against them

There will be much RUSH talk in coming seasons in all age groups.

Anonymous said...

11:10: I read the original comment about some spots already being filled as: politics as usual. Logic says the best players should be chosen, but is that really the way things go in youth soccer? Not always.

Anonymous said...

Rush and Copa tied their game at Baltimore Mania so Copa did not overtake the Rush. They actually tied in points so they had to go goals for to get to Final. Both teams are about equal in quality.

Anonymous said...

What did PDA do? PLease explain.

Also... I honestly thought it was against US Youth Soccer Rules to switch in the middle of the year. No?

Anonymous said...

Rush is a new Thugs Fusions. Ball was on their side most of the game and they got a lucky PK. 5 fouls and yellow card plus bad parents on sideline just like Fusions.

Anonymous said...

Playing on a smaller pitch with a kid ref will get lots of calls on both sides which happened. Yellow was a good call on Rush, but still a very good team. Copa played smarter and a little more tech then Rush.

Anonymous said...

Copa players just to small can't handle the physical from rush. Rush's striker almost put Copa's defender to emergency room. Hope she is okay. Look like her shoulder got damage. They need some big and fastest player.

Anonymous said...

With a bigger more normal size field
COPA is just fine. Rush is very good though, and will be a contender.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't call the foul in the box lucky (which resulted in the PK). It was a shoulder to shoulder play that happened in the latter part of the first half. Given how physical the rest of the game was, I do not think the ref makes the same call later in the match.

Was the game chippy? Sure, but that's soccer. It was extremely competitive, hard fought and probably derserved to be a tie.

Anonymous said...

It's okay to be competitive but not taking player our from behind and someone can get seriously hurt.

Official Matchfit looking for new player for ECLN team.
http://www.matchfitacademy.net/girlstryouts/index_E.html

Anonymous said...

Free tryouts and free Tshirt at new Match Fit ecnl team TRYOUTS next month. Will credit any pda fee already paid to pda. Come one, come ALL!

Anonymous said...

Look at this - it really looks like PDA is the place to be. All players from NJ at this camp are from PDA:

http://www.usclubsoccer.org/Files/2013%20id2%20CA%20camp%20-%20Girls%20roster.pdf

Who cares about the others, if you want to get somewhere in soccer PDA is where it is at.

Anonymous said...

you can have 10 ODP players on the same team. how is that cheating?

you can switch teams any time you want. i know someone that pulled their kid from 2 teams. one in december and one in january. the kid had a 6 game JAGS sit before the season even started. pretty sure dad yelling at the DC didn't get him anywhere. LOL

Anonymous said...

Looks like pda is a risky investment now. Stock slipping a little every day. Is it a hold or sell sell sell.
Cramer says sell.

Anonymous said...

So Jags has a sit rule? Any other leagues?

Anonymous said...

6:11

I think that only ECNL clubs were invited to that ID camp. I'm not 100% sure of that though.

Anonymous said...

it's been awhile so things may have changed. NJYS and JAGS is 3. MOSA is 5. i think SJGSL didn't have one for U10 and younger but not sure how that works with the NJYS rule.

well then that would explain why only PDA players were there. guess they will have to share with MF next time?

To the poster who I assume is a Copa parent.....You really need to get your eyes checked as I have no idea what game you were watching when you played RUSH in Baltimore. You outplayed RUSH?? Are you kidding me? You claim they are THUGS?? WOW! We sat and watched the whole game and your assessment is so off base. They are a really good team and play the game better then most teams in U-14 I've seen in a very long time. They are very skillful, move the ball around the park quickly and accurately, and work extremely hard to win the ball back when they lose it. Challenging the ball does lead to some physical play at times but certainly doesn't mean that they are thugs. Stop that non-sense talk. Soccer at the highest levels sometimes involves physical challenges on the ball that do lead to someone winning it and someone losing it. Defenders most of the time will sacrifice themselves and end up on the ground as attacking players might try to run through the ball to gain control which leads to some type of contact. This is soccer folks. Start watching more of it at the higher levels. Did you happen to catch the MNT play Mexico last night? I can recall numerous physical challenges that made you go...WOW..that was a tough play! Are they THUGS?? Stop the stupid THUG talk at this age folks. Physical play is part of this sport and always will be. Players will indeed sometimes get hurt because of it. We worry when it happens because it's our little girls out there but start thinking logically about this sport....it's a contact sport, watch more of it at the highest levels on tv to better educate yourself. You also talk about yellow cards as if they are the worst thing in the world and you relate getting one to being a THUG?? If you watched the MNT play last night, 2 cards were given to our defenders rather quickly in the match for tough challenges on the ball. The USA defender went into a tackle and clearly missed the ball while clipping the heels of the Mexican attacker. This happens so often and it is indeed a foul requiring the ref to issue a caution. Just part of the game folks, just part of the game.

EDP/US Club has a 0 sit games, that is why Copa, JU, STA, Parma, and others who accept players mid-year do not have to have their players sit any games.

Anonymous said...

@8:27
Well stated and 100% accurate about the physical play. I can't wait to see what these cry babies who consistently coddle their children have to say when these kids are in high school next year. Woman's college soccer is even worse!

Stop your bitching people, sit back, enjoy watching your daughter play and educate yourselves on all aspects of the game!!!

The players that stick out and will succeed are the ones who have it all: speed, skill, knowledge, toughness, mental toughness, determination, has no fear, has a true passion for the game and HEART, miles of it!

Chicken or egg?

The top players CHOSE to play at PDA? -

- and ended up national level, where they may have been anyway?

Or.....

PDA took these players, who were sub national level talent - and groomed them.

I think this is the crux of most discussions re: PDA on these boards.

It's obviously a great program. But I can't see how PDA is a prerequisite in NJ to national level play, logically speaking

Anonymous said...

Rush Parent, sorry your team did not advance. With all that BS you said, still just put the ball in the net. It is called a goal, and most tie breakers are determine by Goals given up and/or goals scored by goal differential.
But RUSH is an up and coming team.

Anonymous said...

If pda was doing a great job, ecnl would not be promoting Match FIT.

PDA SCRAMBLING RIGHT NOW!!

The only reason ecnl does not put a new club in South NJ is a 5 year deal with the BUCKS.

Anonymous said...

PDA should not have a monopoly on the ENCL in NJ. sorry, WC does not count. WC limited for MANY NJ players. MF is east and south of PDA, allowing many more players too far from PDA the opportunity. i do think that a southern academy should be the next invited but all are so new. they need a more exstablished track record.

11:06? curious what club you would suggest?

Anonymous said...

Match Fit. Duhhhh.....

Only good and great things happening at Match Fit. An extremely professional organization that when there is a slight issue , they take care of it. Done. Over. No one knows.

Respect

Anonymous said...

Match Fit will expand South. Already in the works with ECNL.
